Martin Baron at Point Park on Sep 14

Please consider attending "A Conversation with Martin Baron," a panel discussion being presented by the International Free Expression Project at Pittsburgh Playhouse Sept. 14.

As you may know, Marty is a former executive editor of the Washington Post. He recently published a memoir of his tumultuous tenure there titled "Collision of Power, Trump, Bezos and The Washington Post." One reviewer called it "All the President's Men for a new generation."

In "Collision of Power," Marty tells the inside story of running The Washington Post newsroom as Jeff Bezos buys it and Donald Trump attacks it — relentlessly. Also during his time at the Post, columnist Jamal Khashoggi was murdered by the Saudi government, reporter Jason Rezaian was imprisoned in Iran, and the U.S. Capitol was invaded by insurrectionists.

Marty, a member of IFEP's advisory board, is one of the most celebrated journalists of our time. Under his leadership, The Washington Post, Boston Globe and Miami Herald have been awarded a total of 18 Pulitzer Prizes. One was for the Boston Globe’s exposure of the clergy sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic Church, which was the subject of the Oscar-winning movie “Spotlight.” Marty was played by Liev Schreiber, who also narrates the audio version of “Collision of Power.”

Here is the Playhouse Ticket Page with more information. Please consider purchasing a VIP ticket at $125 or a general admission ticket at $40. A VIP ticket includes a great seat, a reception with Marty before the event and a signed copy of this book. Net proceeds will benefit the International Free Expression Project and Point Park University's Center for Media Innovation.
