Rave Ami: "Our time is up"
When I was first considering launching this fine website, devoted to helping people to find local creative work, I spent some time digging into the Western PA art scene. Especially the music scene. Now is a good time to admit that I literally only know two things about music:
I know what I enjoy;
Any group effort of any importance is difficult.
Rave Ami was one of the first bands I found in that research. Specifically, I found their “No Arc” album. I was listening to “Waiting Room Boogie” when I realized we would need a Crusher Deluxe Spotify playlist. I found lots more to like, but these guys stayed on my mind. I even mentioned them in that interview I did a couple of months back.
After 14 years, they’ve announced that they’re wrapping it up. I found the news on Instagram, and I’m posting it here so you can dig deeper if you want.
Now is one of those times where I love flexing a very particular muscle — the fact that we’re not pretending to be critics or “detached members of the press” here. We are here to call your attention to the locals doing the work, so they can find their audience.
So, Rave Ami has one last show on August 3rd at Gooski’s with The Zells. As someone who found them only this year, I know that I haven’t earned that show, and nobody is really going to be able to change my mind about that.
But if you’re one of the people that HAS been along for their ride, get your ass to that show. They’ve definitely done the work.
